SailDesign: Loki - too much?

I think the arch may be too much? Comments?

I think you already know the answer to that one. The once distinctive boat now looks like it came from a factory. The dilemma, what to do with that needed stuff? If you can make it look like it belongs and not an add-on, youll have a winner. But to leave it off would be dishonest to the prospective buyer. Just my opinion of course. ;)

      Gary - you're a BIG help! ;-)
I had fooled with the idea of a central "pylon" breaking the windshield, but decided that visibility would be nice.....
OTOH, folks got by just fine without all that Nav crud in the "old" days before arches became fashionable.

      LOL!
Look at it this way. If someone buys it without the arch, then wants the nav aids, theyll put up one of those big chrome tube things. When you use that perspective, your arch looks good. But it still doesnt do much for the boat. I think anyone buying this boat would have all the bells and whistles on it. And Im sure THEY would like the arch.

"And I'm sure THEY would like the arch."
Yes, they probably would..... I still wonder why people will buy a good-looking boat and then clutter the thing up with (semi)useless stuff that completely ruins the look they liked in the first place.

      Steve,

Sorry I couldnt be more constructive. Loki is a real head turner, and anyone, me included would have a Cheshire grin while standing at her helm. :D For me the arch draws attention away from the hull, which for many hulls is a needed distraction, but not for Loki. I hope many are built.

      Gary,
I'm working on an alternative tht may or may not grace this forum....
Does the name Buzzi ring any bells? ;-P

Well yah, theres a Ruth, but shes not into boats. LOL! Or are you saying that Loki will be getting a MIL-Spec #. So thats what youre doing in RI. I think you might have to beef up that arch.

Gary - I was thinking of Fabio, the "my boat has wings" fella. The more I look at it, the less I like it.

51 in 4 weeks and Im still sharp as a tack. Fabio Buzzi, thats who came to mind but I was thinking of a different quote.

At present, the main thrust of FB Design's activity is devoted to the design and construction of high speed military vessels on behalf of many navies all over the world,

      Fabio Buzzi

I cant believe I even know this. He has an interesting site. My rum powered imagination has run off in a different direction.

Steve, thanks for sharing your work with us

Well, at 48, I'm not as sharp as I should be, obviously - I never figured on that side of things ;-) Anyhow, the wings are fugly, so they're out......

      yep, ditch the arch.
      Beautifull hull though. IMO....

Thanks, Paul. The arch has gone, and the Buzzi wings.

Could the arch be shorter??? Have more angle?? If you could do that it could look better. Nice hull
