Before the first hull can be laid, the mold for the cap and gunwhale must be constructed. Instead of relying on endless measurements, the easiest way is to build it right on top of the hull mold so no mistakes can be made. Remember, for the cap everything having to do with the mold is upside down. You have to see yourself turning it over, laying-up the cap and gunwhales, popping them out, turning them back over and placing on top of the hull. (huh?) Tony in Sw FL
Right, but a hundred little rectangles does not a mold make. You could have done the same thing with a couple sheets of plywood and metal braces. Why not carry out the same technique with the gunwhales that you executed with the mold of the hull
