      Are those outside welded flatbar 'battens' - and if yes why did you do this over butt welding the seam with the batten inside - then fairing outside - just curious about your intentions and methods - I might be out to lunch all together, but I have never seen this done on a steel yacht - cheers ...

      Hello Sean,
      The 'battens' are joggles, they are formed by folding one plate over the other and double weld the seams, inside and outside.
      This gives a stiffened area of 2.5" wide and 1/2" thick. They are on the outside to keep the inside flat against the frames.
      It is not unusual in Holland to build classic yachts in this way (see http://bronsveen.nl)
