colinhilton: Catamaran Quadcopter with Fixed Power-Plants
An alternative platform for testing by way of a plan view of a quadcopter combined with pusher propellers at the rear of each pontoon. Notwithstanding the efficiency of vectoring motors, the arrangement has the advantage of simplicity. Furthermore recent developments among commercial eVTOLs, multicopters aside, appears to be split between air taxis with an element of thrust vectoring and those with fixed lift and cruise propellers. Immediate benefit of the above arrangement is that (given it can lift the weight) it can be demonstrated in both hover and cruise without the addition of servo-controls to govern the transition from one phase to the other. Besides this, the current construction is already adapted to this configuration.
