Just curious: what is the advantage over having both anchors closer to the bow: e.g., both anchors side by side, same clearance as the aft anchor in this drawing? It seems to me that a wide bowsprit is a good thing, not a bad thing, and a long sprit holding an anchor is a bad thing. For example, having the anchors separated athwartship a bit perhaps simplifies the windlass situation: use one windlass with horizontal axis, wildcats on each side P/S, with separate brakes so the axel only turns one wildcat at a time.
Length was determinded by the A-sail, and the anchors both use the same wildcat. Keeping anchors clear of each other, while not making the sprit overly large.
