Hello... Been there and done that in a gale with a rudder sucking air... Skipping along in an old Jack Holt Enterprise in the shipping lanes of Vancouver harbour... Ain't no thing untill you get into the lee of that beast... Then you are F'cked... That guy needs to tack immediately and run or beam reach or just bear off and wait it out - to avoid getting sucked into the prop... But there is the sense of scale to consider... Great photo of a couple of dumb asses... Sail has right of way if he can see you - but if you are doing same on his 50 foot swell of a bow wave - well - it might be good to just get the F'ck out of the way - any which way you can... That is the least I have to say - but lets say these mucks do get chewed up into shark chum - just two less fools breathing my air - I mean - really... Great photo - lots of possibilities for very short stories... SH.
