Kurt Kehler obviously prefers beams and netting while Bob Oram went for solid surfaces. Me I'd do a combination of both.
I doubt it allows for all that. The length is weight dependant and this 28ft it is a day boat with 2 seats and 6gl tanks strewn about.
I'll check out the video. What's your opinion?
Can't say I'm surprised and you're correct that most builders keep quiet and rather build than talk. I'm not looking to go power as long as I can...
Reading through this thread it appears that the Scoota designs are hard to beat unless begwerk strikes gold and finds the Bob Oram plans.
Thanks David.
This is quire enticing. What is the best way to design and build a boat along these lines?
Thank you for responding David and congratulations on a beautiful boat. Here is a link for those who can't find it:...
No. Bay of Biscay, Bordeaux, France.
I'm pretty much set on a 40 foot cat, no smaller. Chris White's MastFoil will be sailing in two weeks and I will wait to see how it goes.
David's shop is about 300 miles South of me and his wife will have him call me. Small world, they hail from Long Beach, CA where I sailed many...
A very old one is for sale in FL for $300k. ! Good points. There are many Catanas -nice boat- in the market, but what RW has to say about the...
Thanks for the input Richard. Only brought up Hasler because he was an iconoclast and his Junk rig following is still strong. BTW some of the...
Either used in the $250+ range -plus another $100 to modify to a singlehanded easy rig- or a new boat in the same budget range. There are some...
Is there a ~40 ft cruising cat that stands above the rest in the cruising segment? Country of origin is not a consideration.
True. My choice of anchors for the boat in question would be a 60 lb CQR, a 33 lb ROCNA and two 21 lb Fortress. I can heft them in the dinghy and...
Amen. Yes to the multihull and dismiss the anchor issue which is not worthy of discussion. Multihull, a cat or a tri? Single mast is...
Faced with being shackled to a deserted anchorage for several weeks and they didn't let go of the anchor? BTW windlasses fail on motorsailers as...
A life and location change is forcing me to investigate cruising singlehanders that are comfortable to live on, easy to handle and safe to sail in...
Eric, is this keel much different from the ETAP keel? http://www.tollesbury-marina.co.uk/etapfeatures/etap_features.htm
