Could probably make something decent with a trilo and a junk rig but it's not gonna be as much interior room as a houseboat. Going too high is going to be really uncomfortable sway and possibly capsizing in 50+ mph winds.

As far as non epoxy surfboards you can sand down dark boards and see more cracking than on light colored boards. Epoxy seems to hold up fine on surfboards even with dark colors, but are often treated with a uv protectant coat.
