I did read those.... and triangular sails were only brought up as fore-sails / jibs or inefficient mains - and yes i did get that they are not...
Right - sorry - should've searched further..... Any thoughts on using them on crabclaws? Would have to be only on those used angled fwd and not...
Why dont we see endplates used on sails? Especially the more "rigid" types - ie wingsails? Planes and formula 1 have adopted them......:?:
Thanks Rob. Was thinking of a cross-over rudder/paddle - along the lines of Wharrams ethnic range..... either/or. No rocker or slab sides:D I...
While i am interested in the crabclaw - it is isn't ideal for shunting..... shorthanded or on a smaller boat. I like the proa concept but rig and...
For the "traditional" type / pacific - why does it need to be so far fwd/ have a lot of lead? Even with a marconi, the foresail is necessary........
Proa's seem to sport quite a variety of rigs with c of e varying quite widely in positions..... Harry / Atlantic / EQL seem to be more in line...
Pod cat? Simple hulls with nothing in them.....
While i think it will be cool and i'm glad it's staying multi - i am also unhappy, as i dont think my country will be able to afford these boats....
Not crazy about the pop-top.... would want minimal hull and the pod add-on would gain interior room in the middle - only berths in hulls. Maybe in...
Could a foil be used instead of a pod?
The theory sounds nice - proa is overpowered - goes over (capsizes!!) but is stopped by the pod and is then able to right itself........ BUT -...
Like it !!! Like the name too.... Almost the return of Jzero? Maybe he'll do another - wtw or harry - then can call it sanity?:P Will be...
Fanie - sounds like you're going over to the dark side? Get a grip!!!:D Petrol price just went up again......... How about one of those smelly...
And yet many do..... many more than in tri's? Cost being an issue - the F boats are out.
I like proa's - but they are better in longer sizes..... What i'd win with a proa would be less beam - over a tri. I dont particularly need/want...
10% of beam seems low.... 10% of loa ? On 9m - i am aiming for 90cm + but minimum cuddy above - with a pod only this may be difficult?
Sorry - but only found same myself.
Search radical bay 800? Bi rig that had issues.... they dropped one sail to tack easier..... i think rudder size too was an issue?
Rob Denney did a cat (?) like this. Proa hulls thread-page5. I too was curious...
