    Berkeley 12Ja Install?

I've used small and large motors. It will depend on your impellor cut, although you can re-cut if you need. How much power did the 455 make? Personally I'd bin the Big Block and go LS. You'll probably have a power increase and save heaps on weight, else go to a 4.3 V6 and save a rediculous...

    Berkeley 12Ja Install?

go see the guys at American Turbine, they are on the border between WA and OR. They both have the same intake mount plates. Else, like you say, fabricate your own...

twin in aluminium moderate v - canting of engines and any inherent problems?

Keeping the mainshaft and crankshaft on the same angle (perfectly aligned) but shifting them to different planes (offset planes) puts corresponding angles at both sets of crosses, therefore does not the angular velocity at one end cancel out the other end (inverse wave form)?

twin in aluminium moderate v - canting of engines and any inherent problems?

Perhaps sarcasm? Here's a pic I've posted before showing the mounting of twim jets, I don't however have one with the engines installed (level) You can see in the pic that the pumps are installed quite close together which means that the engines are real close (I could slide my hand...

    Auto Diesel for Jet

the 4000-4500 rpm is for the HJ212. As was pointed out the 212 is the 'gas' version and the 213 for salt water diesel. They look almost the same, but the 213 comes with anodes, hydraulic bucket actator with pump and cooler mounted to the suction piece (actuator arm comes through the bulkhead on...

    reverse jet drive

just think in the mode of; "which side of the boat do I need my thrust?" and all will be fine, or if that's difficult then the bow will always go in the direction you turn the wheel...

    reverse jet drive

You may wish to custom adapt a different type of bucket that doesn't pivot as part of the nozzle. While this will work for an 'adequite' reverse, it won't enable the type of manouvers described prior.

    reverse jet drive

It's called a de-tent. You can adjust how much tension it applies but it was designed more so that the thrust from the nozzle doesn't kick the bucket back into the 'up' position. It is very hard to pull the bucket into the jetstream at full throttle anyway, you do need to back off a ways while...

    Auto Diesel for Jet

I built one with a centre console powerd with and LD28 coupled to a Hamilton Jet Colorado in about '97 (before I thought to take pics). Scott jet has built one with the motor from a Toyota Prado in it direct coupled to one of their pumps. Went for a ride, it was no V8, but did everything we...

    Curious about Jet drives.

The stators need to run between the multi-stage impellors to 'straighten' the water flow so the next impellor can get a good 'bite', else the water inside the pump would end up rotating at next to the same speed as the impellor so the last one would do nothing

    reverse jet drive

And a hell-of-a-lot of fun. Also try full speed, zero helm, full bucket and full throttle!!! Be quick to get off the gas though as the nose dissappears underwater. Have about 1/3rd filled a boat like this. Oh, and remember to close your mouth to as it fills up with water! Neutral on the jet...

    Auto Diesel for Jet

In that sort of power range you'd be looking at perhaps a Kodiak, Scott jet, older Hamilton 773, Flow-pro, or similar. Jets are fine on open water. Once again some people have a pre-determined view of jets based on things transpired in the '80's when sea boats were merely fitted with jets...

twin in aluminium moderate v - canting of engines and any inherent problems?

Why cant the motor? Just simply mount the motor level. The drive couple doesn't care that the base plate of the jet pump and the motor block are rotated around the drive line.

Be careful here dude, CA can also be used to denote California... I'm sure there are many other double-ups and causes for confusion. aryanboy, I'll catch up with you a bit later regarding the sprint boat...

    waterjet

No problems. As already discussed, the difference is usually the quality of the materials and sacrificial anodes. This is an added cost for the manufacturer which is then passed on to the consumer.

    waterjet

It is important to note that each 'stage' must contain both an impeller AND stator, as a 3-stage waterjet isn't just 3 impellers in line on a shaft, but require the stators to correct any rotational inertia created by the blade in front so the next one can 'bite' the water as if it was the...

    Prop to jet question

As has been posted, if you need to use jet due to impact hazzards in the river, then consider the right tool for the job. A vessel with wear strips or impact resistance built into their structure is going to be far better than tearing your glass boat to shreds, osmossis, etc. Putting a jet...

    Powering River Jet, options?

    Powering River Jet, options?

I'd take him up on his offer. I can see this turning into a pi$$ing contest... I can assure you the Scott is a better pump. May not give you any more top end... unloaded. But put some load on board, or start towing toys and you'll soon notice the difference. Being a 2-stage the Scott has...
