Hybrid sailing trimaran with electric outboard and regenerative capability

Hello there, Bringing this thread up as I have the same idea ... (electric outboard with hydro generation capability for a small trimaran, dragonfly 28 or 32 type) Since the time of the thread Torqeedo now have the cruise 4.0 and 10.0 outboards, and they mention hydrogeneration capability for...

Anybody using Orca3d on a recent mac book pro (under bootcamp) ?

A little up, nobody is using this setup ? This thing is drivng me nuts. Rhino is working perfectly under bootcamp, and Orca doesn't work just due to this licensing software, pretty sure it would be almost nothing to repair, nobody from Nalpeiron here ? :(

Anybody using Orca3d on a recent mac book pro (under bootcamp) ?

Hello all, I have been fighting for the last few days, with the help of the Orca3d support (very responsive), to try to make Orca3d work on a recent mbp (13" with touch bar) under bootcamp, with no success ... Rhino works perfectly fine under bootcamp, and the issue with Orca is just due to...

    A Houseboat that Sails?

The rudder blades seem a bit big to me, and why having the mechanism so outside the boat ? In any case cool looking project !

    34th America's Cup: multihulls!

Yes but for sure having the angle control on the gaggerboard instead of the rudder will make the overall balance much more sensible (in the sense reactive) to any change, no vid of ETNZ on its foil yet ?

    34th America's Cup: multihulls!

Yes indeed, but I guess that will make it much more sensible for controlling the horizontal angle of the hull, will be interesting anyway ! :)

New 27' trimaran design by Kurt Hughes

How does having the centreboard below the boom works ?

    34th America's Cup: multihulls!

Wow, if enough winds to be on its foils, that will be a no race in case the others don't get some (but I guess they can still add them), what do the rules state exactly ? Only out dimensions and sail area ? Nothing about the appendages ? Edit, quite precise in fact : Considering that on the...

New 27' trimaran design by Kurt Hughes

There is the "multi 2000" rating method which has been developed, described below : http://www.multicoques-habitables.com/jauge.htm Note : that page is in French but the document linked at the bottom have English versions (Gbr) The rating explained in below doc (English) ...

An interesting boat : matinbleu (free standing "wing sails" goélette)

Yes I know about the Qwerty! (lived in California for a while, in Santa Barbara in fact :) ), the "French" keyboards are "Azerty" (also the first line of letters starting upper left to right), takes quite a bit of time to switch from one to the other ...

An interesting boat : matinbleu (free standing "wing sails" goélette)

By the way, I like Saint Barbara design a lot, especially like these "classical roof shapes" on modern hulls shapes, which in fact are more "to the point" shapes, not trying to be "overly aerodynamic"(which I doubt makes a lot of difference at sail boat speeds), a bit like David Reard's designs...

An interesting boat : matinbleu (free standing "wing sails" goélette)

Thanks a lot for the info, you really are the unstayed rotating wing mast expert ! Maybe you could contact Erik Lerouge, who also is a big unstayed rig fan (he designed matin bleu and its masts, not really the sails), and is working on such a concept for himself : His site ...

An interesting boat : matinbleu (free standing "wing sails" goélette)

Very nice example indeed, these days something like that around 11 metres would be my dream boat I think (after having been thinking about tris for a while ...). On very broad reaches, is she actually sailed with the booms well passed 90° from the boat axis ? And what is the idea behind...

An interesting boat : matinbleu (free standing "wing sails" goélette)

Eric, Yes on a mooring I can understand that fixing it on opposite angles would work, at a dock though, would be a bit scared to leave the boat with sizeable wing masts surfaces, especially in a location were strong winds from different directions are common (the case in south France with...

An interesting boat : matinbleu (free standing "wing sails" goélette)

And what about at the harbor ? Isn't it necessary to leave the masts freely rotate in order not to have them fixed on a beam reach in strong winds ? And in that case how do you "manage" the booms or wishbones (and sails) ? Note : this subject mentioned below I think, where they sail that when...

    34th America's Cup: multihulls!

The damages appears quite low for the crash (that comittee boat is strong ! :) ), but maybe some structural stuff on the cat ... Quite amazing, missed the live video yesterday but looked the day before, I like the format a lot.

I have to look at it through a VPN, otherwise it says not available in your country. Quite impressive ! Starts are even more important than with other boats somehow
