The idea of this "wiki" is to provide a collaborative knowledgebase relating to all things boat design and boat building. The [http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/ Forums] will remain the key location for active discussion, but the Boat Design Wiki will complement the forums by providing a collaborative article database where members can work together to create a database of information organized by topic. All Boat Design Forum Members (with at least 5 posts on the public forum) are welcome and invited to help build the Boat Design & Boat Building Wiki. This is not set in stone yet, but the advantages for our community would be a unified posting interface, markup and attachments, and the ability to promote specific forum posts to articles (which was a core idea of the initial formation of the wiki here.) We are working to evaluate features – no timeline has been set yet. If this is in fact our course of action, wiki data will be imported into the new cms so this notice should not affect normal use of the wiki; however it would impact anyone with a ''large'' plan for the wiki, so thus the posting of this notice.
