Just noticed your comment Daniel. Isn't it an awesome piece of tradition? It was built at "chantier naval de Saint Guenole", in Saint-Guenole, Brittany (France). The yard builds commercial wood fishing boats but has also built a few reproductions of traditional working boats including this one http://lougredelodet.com/corentin.html for which they were building a similar windlass when I visited them.
