Tad: Scheherazade Launching

Scheherazade was launched on September 27, 2003, by Hodgdon Yachts in East Boothbay, Maine. She is cold-molded wood, mostly douglas fir and red cedar, skin is 3.5" thick. LOA is about 154', beam 28.5', draft 15', displacement 588,000 pounds, ballast about 150,000 pounds.

      I agree comment of Will, Tad. It's very interesting picture! The both hulls are very nice.

      Way cute boat, Tad. Although the write-up in some of the papers didn't concentrate on the boat as much as the old fart who thought it was (misquoting...) "disgusting to spend that much on a boat with so many people starving". He obviously doesn't appreciate how many people a boat of that size will feed, even after the building has finished.
      Again, beautiful boat.

      We designers owe a great deal to builders like Tim Hodgdon and his guys, they did an incredibly beautiful and meticulous job on both these boats. They are nice boats, but too big, a half size version of Liberty would be about right for me.

      Woh!!! I was there when that boat was launched. I couldn't remember it's name but this is it. I remember they had to have Scuba Divers attach the keel once the boat was in the harbor because it was so big. Thanks.
