New Boat Building Method. A new application of sandwich core material, in a very fast an inexpensive way. Include the history of a real case building a 33 foot sail boat. This method spend ½ in materials ( ultra light hull) and take 1/3 the time in relation with the traditional way. www.magallanesboatbuilding.com

Is the foam you used for the core of the closed-cell type?

Mr. Willallison. The urethane foam is very common. It is used in the construction industry for insulation, and is very inexpensive ( 3 US$/kg). Urethane is sold in any store where they sell fiberglass. Its comes in two liquid parts, Isocianato and Polyol. When are combined they expand through a chemical process, which in less than 15 minutes transforms in to rigid foam. My advice is to buy already built foam plates it in the refrigeration supplier industry and, can save a lot of work for a few dollars.

Damn fine piece of lateral thinking!
With all that foam volume I bet its unsinkable too - or pretty close!
