Dear Olav,
It is a great 3-D model. I think you have done it in SolidWorks. There is always a problem with the coordinates, because the coordination system has another definition then in shipbuilding (Z is pointing upwards, x-towards the bow and y-towards BB). Are you able to change the coordinates in SolidWorks? Beside this we like to exchange 3D-Models via 3D-PDF and .stp AP214 files.
As an example I have upload your 3D-Model towards our web site under
http://www.archnav.de/Ibuki_E90_Horn.pdf .
Further on I have one question, who is the company Ibuki? I didn’t found them on the internet.
Cheers
Bernd

Thanks, Bernd!
Yes, it's indeed made using SolidWorks and I am aware of the difference between the coordinate systems used in general engineering and naval architecture (and it's the latter I prefer, too). However, since I generally use to make a rather crude 3D-model with a corresponding drawing in SolidWorks which I then save as a *.dwg or *.dxf and proceed in AutoCAD or the like to finish the final drawing I don't care too much about it. I also thought it would'nt be too important as everyone can position the model in his or her preferred CAD package as he or she likes. But I can try to change the coordinates to naval architecture standards. :-)
Regarding Ibuki, I have no idea either. I made the horn (as well as the NorthropGrumman - former DECCA - radar scanner posted elsewhere in this section) when drawing a set of model plans of the IC15M ("ENFORCER II") by Dockstavarvet AB from Sweden. A Google search for "ibuki horn" produced some JPEG drawings where I took the measurements from.

Dear Olav,
You are a great sailor, naval architect, boats builder and 3D-modeller and coming also from Preetz. I think as far as I know you are one of the few naval architecture students in Kiel who has experience with normal CAD Systems like SolidWorks, UG, ProE etc. . So keep on going to make solids from equipment , which could be used by all of us and please publish them in .stp AP214 (that possible with SolidWorks) and 3P-PDF.
Please start with your RIB and the International Moth as 3D-Models.
Cheers
Bernd
