Here is an example of how nicely the twin keel version of Swain's yachts take to the ground in a stable fashion. On the BC coast, where there are fewer and fewer haul-out facilities, the ability to dry out on a mudflat allows an owner to work on their own boat any time they like. In theory, the twin keels offer slightly more wetted surface. In practice, the single keel model and twin keel model exhibit the same performance characteristics on average.
