colinhilton: 6.0 METRE FLAT-PANEL PLANE

Outline concept and 1/4 scale mock-up for flat-pack panel-and-pultrusion watercraft. The pre-production prototype is intended for sales in kit form, designed to provide builders with an experimental platform of six metres length and a 150-litre displacement. The hydro-skis are ideally FRP flat-bar bonded to foam or balsa core, and each mounted on a 100mm FRP box-section. Panels derive from laminated foamed sheet of the same thickness and standard 1220 x 2440mm dimensions, divided into a 3/4 length to form a deck (set at two-thirds length), and with the remainder divided between fore-and tail-fins to fix the hydro-skis at eighteen-degrees to the bearers.
