lewisboats: Whiskers... a Catboat

Whiskers is a 14.5 ft open catboat for day sailing or weekend camp sailing. She'll carry 141 sf of sail with 200 lbs of internal ballast (2 50 lb pigs on each side) alongside the centerboard case and a 100 lb steel traditional pie slice shaped board and barn door rudder. Bare hull weight of around 250-325 lbs without the ballast. Built of 9-10 mm/ 3/8" and 6mm/ 1/4" marine grade ply, glued lap with fore, aft and side decks and built in flotation sufficient to keep the boat afloat despite the ballast... long enough to dump it if necessary. Only the bottom is glassed... for abrasion, with the centerline taped with 2 layers of tape under the glass and filleted and taped inside for a joint approximately 1" thick.
