This is the third in a series of yachts incorporating similar features. It all started with a double ended 34' cruiser with backyard construction in mind for a local bar owner (who turned out to be a real pain in the butt) She was hard chined, has the high chin, tumblehome bow, broken and raised sheer and originally rigged as a sloop, but now a yawl with wishbone booms. The 34 was a well burdened craft, deep bilges and shallow fin/skeg appendages.

A 39', 48' and 53' versions have been done in the same vain. This is the 48'er as a ketch, which only made good sense with this sail area. This one is less burdened, has radiused chines is generally trimmer overall then the 34 or 39 foot versions. There's more overhang in the ends and more refinement in the appendages, her numbers indicate she'll be a good performer, yet still a cruiser. The 53 is a heavily rounded transom stern as it has an aft cabin and needed the room. The addition underwater area provided with the transom gives the hull needed power aft.
