Plans in development. A recreational kayak very similar to the Tarpon by Wilderness Systems. Options for a partial deck, full deck, or Sit On Top. Lots of lengths. Standard and metric units. Comments or questions welcome.

Tracktion and speed is aleays problems with shorter kayaks. A good rudder system helps traction. Build some quick and dirty ply prototypes and do some tesing.

I think the boat at top is the best option. The smaller cockpit does't make sense in this type of kayak. The sot is also an alternative but you would problably fill the aft compartment with water paddling down wind

Thanks for the input! This one is intended as a recreational paddler with the option of installing a rudder if the builder desires. Several lengths will be available.

I should mention this design is for plans to build your own.

The Sit On Top version is self bailing (scuppers not shown in this image) so no issue/concern with the cockpit or rear tankwell filling with water.

I'm not a big fan of the enclosed cockpit but I'd like the builder to have a few options to select from.

Prototype is currently being built.
