This shows the joint of the
mast extension. Pop rivets were used in addition to the
through bolts for the stays.
The two strips shown act as
shims needed because the extension piece is a little smaller in cross section than the original mast section.
A turnbuckle is used for attaching the headstay and
a sheeve for the jib halyard.
