The wing keel is being prototyped to try to improve
windward pointing ability and not having to replace the centerboard on my 1970 Irwin 23. The restoration project of this certified antique vessel is documented on http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/mft and a link is added to the extensive list of projects completed and planned. The Irwin 23 draws 2' 5" with the board up, 5' 9" with the board down. If the wing keel can approximate the advantages of the centerboard without suffering the deep draft of the centerboard, this project will be a great success. |
