Tricky project, needed vertual no deadrise for shallow luanch, cathedral tunnel, dry ride design, and cat characteristics, should draft 4-5 inches and plane to less than two.

Is there damage to the hull 2/3rds of the way down, or is that just part of the design?

It is a vent, much in a way an offshore boat is vented with changes in attack angles, this one uses the vent to syphon air in a much smaller scale, then uses the ribs to change its attack angle, which also have a smaller vent to aid in plaining to its pad.
