Why stich?

This may be the dumbest question you have ever heard, but why stich in Stich & Glue construction?

Can't clamps alone do a good enough job of holding the boards in place to glue them without the use of wire stiching?

The answer simply is "no".

Look at any of these designs, and you will see that the stitches are in locations where it not practical or even possible , to put clamps. Think about trying to clamp thin, curved, panels intersecting at odd angles.
