Walrus, I'm familiar with that Scotsman term for the doubler added to a tank bottom for where the sounding stick(if thats the term) lands, doin' much the same thing eh!
Grousefeathers, if you look on my gallery you can see a workboat to cruiser conversion on a carvel built hull thats been splined & glassed over, on this boat above the waterline the plank seams have been detailed into the fill coat over the fiberglass sheathing, you could do the same to a strip plank composite vessel as well to give a "traditional aestetic" also.
