Hoyt that's a possibility if so then it can be concluded, He(Noeettica) sank the ones he built. :D Just did a detailed read of the thread, Wanted to pass on an idea I used in the construction of the dory. The seats are built as individual compartments including a small V berth style in the bow and filled with hand cut closed cell foam. ( same material as pool noodles for kids but in sheets) I sealed the bow chamber and put a drain hole at it's lowest point. I secured the foam in the regular seats about 3 in. below the top and mounted the actual seat tops on hinges(hinges toward the bow)( Also drain holes at the lowest points). Lifting the seat top gave me a place for my fishing gear, compass, hand held VHF, and GPS. Plus in my case being motor less my rowing gloves and drinking water :) This increases your floatation, provides convenient secured lockable storage with an added plus that closed cell foam plus drain holes keeps it all dry reducing the chances of delamination and rot.
Today I closed in the B&B addition weather tight so now I can relax a little and get back on the boat . Weather is still good here,(Bayside) mild and a bit of rain but no frost or snow. Keep up the good work she's proving out to be a nice looking craft ---Geo.

I am glad you got your place closed in before the water got in and froze. It will probably freeze here tomorrow morning.

I was going to use 2 part foam but if I can find pool noodle foam in sheets that would be good. The 2 part foam I already have on hand could be used in the nose section. The seats are on the sides mostly and pretty long. The first 4 feet on each wall from the transom forward will contain flotation. The front 2 feet approximately will have storage for jackets and bumpers. There is a water proof box for VDS and another larger waterproof box for charts electronics and so forth.

Dam, here I am with about 30 sheets of the stuff, 3in. x 18in. x 10ft. I brought it in from Toronto to use as dory floatation collars.( As used in Sports Pal Canoes) The dory production didn't pan out profit wise so i'm the proud owner of closed cell foam in sheets. We have to plan better, we could have stored them under your truck seats and they could have floated you thru the heavy rains in Georgia. :)

Had they been cut in half and lined up inside the teardrop they could have made good insulation under the mattress. I even had my machete with me which would have made a nice clean cut.

Hoyte, I would think the over 2000 miles of freight alone (by volume) would cost a lot more than if you purchased them in Florida. Check around I bet it is available there with all the boat building companies . Possibly PAR would know a source. I believe it's polyester foam ???. I seem to recall a mess of it at that big Marine Liquidation Store in Fort Pierce I have their phone number here somewhere or I should say the Organizer (Miss Nancy) has it. I'll forward when she returns from Halifax.
