Pulling out cut nails

Is there any way to pull out cut nails without hacking a hole around them to remove the plank.

You can just drill one hole right next to it and bend it to the hole, but this is what you try to avoid?

The only way I've found is to wiggle it about a bit to loosen to the nail, then get a pair of pliers or pincers on the head, takes forever but leaves the smallest holes! - depends what your after - the nail or the wood! There's tons of the buggers in Kernow me 'ansom
