With regard to balsa cores ,and cores in general ,you could do worse than Google yachtsurvey and open up a page by a surveyor called Pascoe ,he is promoting a book ,but contains some interesting information non the less....cheers

Corecell or Airex is my shop choice but there is nothing wrong with Balsa which was my point but your mud thing fits you better in this case as for the wood stuff I grew up here and we cut a lot of that rotted wood crap up down on the river and trucked it to the dump. Yes I am sure people are standing in line for a brand new Circa 1940's woodpile but each to their own I prefer the Plastic myself. See what we call people like yourself is speaking out of turn! And that blocks any rational view of the more modern concepts and techniques. Also the basic understanding of how a tree grows would help !

I really should have posted my intent and that was composite yachts can reach 200 feet and better while ply rot is liminted Look I have nothing against plywood my Dad built with it But as for me it makes great shop fixtures but that is as far as I would take it.. When the world is full of engineered material and the people that sell it are more than willing to supply any help and advice necessary for a proper job…My second problem here is the parroting of some negative Hear say And there in is the problem ! there is not a Damm thing wrong with a cored bottom #1 and #2 someone maybe buying a boat from a builder and happens to read this Oysterisiced twisted opinion and then goes back to the builder expressing concerns Like I said every evil is tracable to the boat shop that did the job.
Hum, maybe you need to talk to some major players in the business of boat building, that has also stood the test of time, instead of preaching to me.

The hearsay that was provided in my previous posts and links, also comes from qualified folks that write reports for the boating community. These reports are accepted reports by the insurance industry across the globe, and dictates how much liabilty that is being assumed by a second party in the event of any failures that constitutes repairs to the hulls. So this is not just hearsay provided to the forum, that was gathered from some bar stool, either.

If you wish to participate in insults and name calling, at least proof read your postings making them coherent, showing that you are capable of thinking and expressing yourself in a clear and consistent manner. That goes a long way in sales. This also goes a long way to convince others reading this thread, too. But all of your ranting about your product, according to your own admission, has not sold Merritt on the use of Balsa Core products, I see.

Huh??? I am not trying to sell Balsa here only correct your Vast grand canyon like misconceptions of the product Because unlike you I have a lot of Balsa cored boats out and “0” Problems as for a solid glass structure why would anyone want that?? Unless THEY happen to like a slow, heavy, inefficient, noisy, cold, damp, boat also lacking any real panel stiffness and like the fact of having to use inordinately large power that ALSO requires large fuel capacity larger batteries and so on and the input for vastly diminishing returns continues WHY??

You do not get it do you?? WEIGHT is best left on shore and the logical way to accomplish that is to use cored structures and like I said Balsa is a good system but we happen to use plastic coring!

Also some remedial reading comprehension would help you here the Merritt Core cell comment was a rebuttal to your ply rot ranting! The last time I looked it was 2006 throw you’re 20 year old calendar away.
