I would be using it more in saltwater than fresh.
I think I will go ahead and strip it down when the weather gets reliably nice and see what I end up with. The hull seems very beefy, even overly so, compared to what the plans called for. The transom and the bottom are 1-1/2" thick, and the transom has a huge laminated knee between it and the keelson. And I plan on putting an offshore bracket on it for the outboard anyway. Unless I find some gawdawful rot or other hidden problems when I strip the sheathing off, I think this will make a solid fishing and camping boat in the end, for a lot less money than I could buy the equivalent boat for on the open market.
