Thanks Longline, He keeps asking when we can go knee boarding. I'm hoping to have the boat ready for this summer.

I see you're from Ohio. Are you a football fan?

[quote=ucb4ume;174708]Hey VKRUE,

Is it normal to be off work for the season?

Hi, yes it is normal for me to be laid off in the winter. I drive a redi-mix concrete mixer and when it gets cold here in central Illinois many customers just don't want to pour concrete... would rather snuggle in front of the fireplace with momma. ;-)

I was wondering about the glass. I was considering glassing the top of my boats bow and gunwhales. First, I intend to cover the topsides with a 1/40th" thick layer of veneer, probably mahogany. I want to incorporate some natural wood look into my boat, and I thought that this would be a good place to have it.

The areas with the red arrows are where I intend to apply the veneer.
Then, I thought, I might glass over the top of that to make it hard and resist abrassion. I don't want the cloudy appearance though... and I've never applied glass before either.

Hey LL45:
Long time no hear.
I'm thinking that I might just do that.
Should I coat it with epoxy?
I want it to show that natural wood texture but, want it to be strong and risistant to scratches and abrassion.

no ,just use good uv varnish,,and then wax it,it will give you something to do at the dock,,,,,,,,,,(,varnish sand ,,varnish sand with finer grit ,varnish and sand with steel wool,),then wax ,,it will be beautifull, ,oh yea save your sand dust to fill in any gaps anywhere,,seems and such ,,use duco cement,to mix it with ,,you will be happy,glass just dont shine like varnish and you wont get the depth,,,,,,,longliner
