| Newbie Hi all, I have been lurking here for quite a while and finnaly registered. I have been interested in building a small wooden power boat for several years and am narrowing the search. I live on the Delmarva penninsula and before the advent of all fiberglass boats, a very popular boat was built here called the Assategue scow. There are a couple of builders making them in glass bare hulls starting around 9,000.00 for the 18'. They are closely gaurding the plans and are down right unfriendly when approached about plans for wood for a DIY. If anyone has any info on where to get plans I would really appreciate it. My only other option is to find a spent one and use as a pattern boat, but they are beggining to get hard to find. Boat details 16' to around 28' flat bottom with rising upswept bow very beamy for their length sides flared out 5 degrees or so plywood construction over a variety of frame species typicaly a back bay work horse refered to as a run and gun any help would be greatly appreciated Eric |

| Hi Eric, there are a number of good sites that are filled with plans yo can get for under $100, or free ins omce cases. Check out http://www.tracyobrien.com/showcat.asp?id=2 Also, you might look over the plans at: http://www.svensons.com/boat/ The above (svensons) uses plans from the old mags (mostly B&W) but they are blown up enough to be readable. Hope that helps! Mike |

Thanx for the links Mike, there were definitely some nice old plans, however I am searching for info on the Assategue Scow, I am about to give up on the getting plans idea and move towards a pattern boat if I can find one. If I can locate a good one in the 18 to 22 foot range. I could then construct a jig with stations and strong back and turn one out. Eric |
