| Wow! I was gone for a couple of days and am amazed at all of the good advice. The more I think about it the more I'm leaning toward a one cyl. diesel in its original position in the wheelhouse. As to the mast are you guys talking about the type found on trawlers for a steadying sail or a small one like on a cabin cruiser? |

| By the looks of the hull, she'll sail rather well in fact. Won't go to windward, but will reach and run and go a bit forward of the wind. She'll do 5 knots downwind and reach at least as well with a big enough sail. A boomless sail on a mast positioned forward of any typical riding sail location would allow the sail to be close to the cabin top. This could be a gaff rig on a free-standing mast with 150 sq ft or so area. Simple and unsophisticated, but all you'd need in over 15 kts of breeze unless the destination is within about 120 degrees to windward. Saves fuel, and it's very quiet too! Alan |
