I bought my first circular saw used off of a woodworking forum. I don't have a table saw so it's built maybe 12 or 13 boats now and it's still just as good as it was new. Buying a lightly used saw bumped me up to a higher quality saw at the same price....but I would only buy a saw if it was lightly used and not too old (like a car.)

Well, I lost all my tools to hurricane Irene from flooding. Lost all my battery operated tools, band saw, drill press, tables saw. The reason I like the festool was for the track system and the plunge saw. I have a very small space anyway. I figured I could use the tracksaw in place of the table saw. The three must things I want..... new router, skillsaw with a track system, and a set of nice planes. With those I think I would be able to do almost any boat work I want. I had ryobi tools before. They were great to learn on but I was starting to replace them with higher quality tools before the storm. Luckily my Dewalt sander and jig saw were high enough to stay out of the water.

Worst part of the deal, when the storm came in, my wife and kids had evacuated the area. I was at work (paramedic). Had someone been home we could have saved most of the tools. I was hoping FEMA would help but because they were in a not living space, they offered no help. Lost my truck to the water where I was working. No help with that either. It was beater anyway! I needed a new one ROFL.
