| Marine plywood, Mahogany, swimplatforms, Custom shop work... Hello everyone! Mike from Nautical Lumber here.......a "Newbie" to the sight. I specialize in Marine plywood & hardwoods for the building or restoration of wood boats. I would enjoy being a part of this forum. If i can be of any help to anyone please let me know! | Hey Allen. My main focus is marine plywood: Okoume bs1088, teak bs1088, teak & holly, ribbon sapele, & some structual marine ply for above waterline applications. Currently I have about 2000 bd ft of african mahogany & a little bit of teak. As my business grows i will be adding more lumber like white oak, sitka spruce, philp. mahogany and so on. I also have a shop where Im able to do custom work such as swim platforms, rudders, teak or mahogany strips for decking. Im looking forward to hanging out some in this forum...im sure theres a wealth of knowledge in here for me to learn from!

| identify Hi there, well i dont know if you can help but i have approx 6 4'x8' 10mm and 1 of 4'x8' of what i believe is marine ply, the only markings (see pic) is A blue stamp (looks like a recycle sign) and marine ply bs-1088 Is there any way of knowing what type of wood it is? |

| Rickfabio, Its hard to tell from the pic. More then likely its an Okoume or Meranti if its light pinkish/brown. & If it has the bs1088 cert on it im sure its a good material. Knottybuoyz, just about all Bs1088 products are manufactured in europe. Like Joubert & Shelman. As far as their being a shortage im not sure. From my experience most boat builders in my area are still using Okoume & rotery cut Sapele due to superior strength qualities.
