I have a vintage Lightnnig with a damaged teak splash guard. Does anyone know where to find replacement pieces. Thanks

You might inquire at the Boat Building Forum here, there's a sub-forum for wood boat building and repair: http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/woo...g-restoration/

There is a vintage Lightening discussion group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wooden_lightning/

Another place to inquire would be the WoodenBoat Forum if you haven't done so already

Thank you for the advice. I am just starting this project so I have not gotten too far.

Pieces like the ones you need are not so difficult to make. You could wait a long time to find used ones.
If you want assistance sourcing the wood (they may be teak, but mahogany is also a possability) and you want to know how to shape the pieces, just ask.

Not likely you can buy them as if it was a spare part, most would just build their own.

If you do not have the skills to make your own replacements, take your old ones to a shop that specializes in wood boats. tell them you need them exactly the same.

If no wood boat shops nearby you can try a custom cabinet maker, make sure he uses the same wood and a proper marine finish.

Good luck.

I am slowly rebuilding an elderly Snipe and I had the same problem with the splash guard on it. I used the existing parts to more or less make a pattern for replacement and then used some mahogany to re-create the splash guards. If you have enough left between the two sides to get a pattern, you are in business. I'm sure with a little Internet digging I could have found patterns for the originals, but I like to do things myself.

You make them using the old piece as a pattern.
