Help i'm new

I want to build an old fashoned river jon out of plywood. We used to have one ,my dad is 6 1 and used the middle seat to lay back on and fish. I guess it was about 5 5 1/2 feet wide and 14 to15 ft maby 16 feet long high sides an we ran an old 10 hp motor on it.But I can not remember how it was constructed i know it was plywood and had a flat with slight uplift at the front. It seemed to go well in shallow water. I need plans very cheep or free I am on dissabilty and funds are scarce the cheeper the better. I hope some one can guid me or let me know where I can find such plans, I am very handy with all types of tools and I have all summer to work on it and gather the plywood and fiberglass and such that i need Thank you

check out http://home.clara.net/gmatkin/freedes.htm for some free plans online. Also do a web search on "free boat plans" - you'll probably find something that will work for you.

These Should Do The Trick

If you are looking for a truly simple workhorse type boat for flat water use, try the following:

A simple workboat

or the LilJon (great design for the first time builder)

Good luck with it!

Plans

Rudedog,
Take a look at www.gatorboats.com, we have a number of designs available, including a traditional flat-bottomed johnboat that can be scaled to any length. The plans and materials are very affordable and there is a ton of info on the site for novice builders.
Have Fun,
Henry C.
