Hello new here looking at a John Boat.

Hello i'm new here and i'm wanting to build a 14-16 ft John Boat.
The hoto's that I have been looking over are nice but they are not the ones i'm looking for..

I might be looking for the wrong kind of boat.

The john i'm looking for is rounded on bottom "long way's". well its flat on bottom the you know how the front angles up so does the back.
The other plans that I have found are close but the back is flat just goes strait out.
I found real basic plans in my missouri conservation book but they were very basic..

In the book it said that lots of people made this boat for missouri many streams. That is what I want it for...

Welcome,
Here's maybe what you want...

http://thelibrary.springfield.missou...weet/wi73b.htm

The size of the side panels says 1x12 in the bill of materials. I
originally thought the "curve of the boat" referred to where the two
ends angle/slope up. In the last drawing at the bottom of the page,
#6, it shows the sides are flared and the beam is narrow at the ends
and wide in the center. That will put rocker in the bottom. It will
still be flat from side to side but it will have curve the long
ways. Sam

I wonder how much marine epoxy I will need to seal a 14 foot john.
I'm thinking of getting some Kevlar for the Front and Back and maybe some for the side edges..

Just the joints with tape...a quart or so...depending on the length.
