| I wouldn't let a lack of full size patterns slow me down. Not if I liked the boat. The hull is only the beginning. Once you finish the hull, there's the lion's share of work to be done. Either boat will be a challenge but those are two very fine boats, you have to admit. |

| After 6 years of very nasty work rebuilding a sunk, broken muddy 38' boat a wooden challenge sounds very good. I will contact Par who lives relitivly close and see what he would charge to loft the lines, if he even has the time. Maybe there are others that have the experiance that would want to taken on the job? Or has someone built a Dark Harbor that still has the lines that they would be willing to sell?

| Look what I found: http://www.selway-fisher.com/OtherDB.htm#STR SAFE HARBOUR 12 STRIP PLANKED DAYSAILER Based on the Dark Harbor 12 designed by B.B. Crowninshield in the early part of the 20th Century, this design has an updated underwater shape and construction method. She is very much a mini J class. With a 12’ waterline and overall length of over 20’ she has elegantly long overhangs which hark back to a bygone era of sailing. Construction is for modern strip planking using Western Red Cedar over computer faired moulds. LOA 20’3” (6.18m); LWL 12’3” (3.74m); Beam 5’8” (1.73m); Draft 3’2” (0.96m); Displ. To WL 2117lbs (960kg); Ballast 970lbs (440kg); Sail Area 216 sq.ft. (20.11sq.m)

| He tells me that he is designing a new boat based on the Dark Harbour with a wider beam and a retractable keel. I'm going to wait to see what he comes up with. I can get Dxf files from him and plot the molds full size.

What about cnc cutting the molds, once you have the .dxf files that might be worth a few $$$...............not? Regards Richard |

| It is a lot cheaper to use the plotter in my office and print full size. Then trace and use the old jig saw.

| Paul Fisher just emailed his new design of the Dark Harbor to me. This one has a retractable steel keel which will make it trailable. It's worth a look: Go to http://www.selway-fisher.com/OtherDB.htm#CALM .He calls it the Calm Harbor
