You kids are the same no matter where you live. I don't see any pictures of you working. I know, I got a lot of moral support too. Actually your Dad is doing a great job. One question, other then price, and knowing you are going to paint the boat why did you use Fir for the sheer clamp? I would have opted for an Oak, but then again I used a great slab of straight grain fir for a Keel for a 26'. It works just kinda looks out of place.

Can I still be a kid at 31? I like to think so.. The sheer clamps (gunwhales) came as part of the kit. The pictures now show the pine strips attached, then there is an additional mahogany strips to go over the top of those. Then the decks cover both, so you'll only see the mahogany.

First new build Well, after just over a year, we are 'finished'. All the gluing, sanding, painting and swearing are complete for now. Just awaiting the spars and sails and then we wait.... for a sunny day. Could be another year.. Cheers Stuart More images at http://www.iwantaseaview.com/Heron

Nice job - I notice you used an electric heater to either heat epoxy or blow fumes away. You have to be a bit carefull doing that, cause a spark in the heat from the electric motor can start a fire if you are unlucky have a lot of fun sailing

Sorry, your over the hill now. You hit the cut off year. Are you going to make wood spars? It would look good with that boat.

I'm afraid not, I've reached the limit of my wood-working and as I'll not be towing too far, I've ordered alloy spars.

There is nothing wrong with alum. spars. You will be enjoying it very soon.
