Fibreglass over international yacht primer

Gday All,
Just a quick question someone may be able to help me out with. I am thinking of layering another coat of glass on the fwd 1/3 of my mahogany cruiser 5.9m and currently it has 2 coats of international yacht primer.

Question. Can you glass straight over the top of the primer or will i have 2 sand back to the first initial glass coat.

Suggestion welcome.

Regards
Archie

Archie.

NUP. Yacht Primer is not suitable for glassing over, remove it entirely. Use chemical paint stripper, then wash off very carefully, use a Scothbrite doodle bug to scrub it all off with water.

I thought as much but hey you never know. As I will probably want to beach the boat every once in a while I thought the extra layer of glass may help in protecting the hull up fwd.

Looks like I got some sanding to do....

Thanks guys

Archie
