Epoxy use over Juniper Planking

I am presenting looking to purchase a 1966 Ray Davis Sportfish that has been epoxied with 18 Ounce cloth over juniper planking. The hull and top sides have both been done. I am inquiring about the durability and longevity of the boat, and any complications that may arise from the use of the epoxy over the aged juniper planking.

Thank you

Using a heavy weight cloth over the planking suggests they were interested in more then abrasion resistance from the treatment. This makes one question the planking, it's fasteners and the rest of the structure's condition. Do yourself a favor and walk away from this one, or at the least have a professional surveyor look her over, before putting down hard won cash. This type of "fix" usually leads to much trouble, down the road, on traditionally constructed wooden craft.

Good point Gonzo, though I'm unaware of any manufacture that was setting heavy cloth in epoxy over wood planks in 1966, it certainly could have been.
