classic Snipa

I just purchase an old 1940 Swedish typical “Snipa” (if anyone know the English name ? please help :-)
Condition is restorable I wish. The small unique engine is my first problem. If anyone knows anything about Solo engine ?

Looks like a sidevalve (sidventil) gasoline motor. Don't know anything about it myself, but it looks like a very basic design, I would start by talking to people that restore pre-war (före andra världskriget) cars.

In Norway boats like this is called snekke, sjekte or kogg.
In Holland, I would guess "Schnecke"?

Boat types are named after there shape and use, among other things.
Maybe we can call it a "double ended open launch" ?

Hello,
we are currently to buy a snipa from sweden and transport it to Lithuania
I wanted to ask what is the best webpage to look for them? We are currently using www.blocket.se, but I think there sould be more then one

Also, what can you say about wooden and plastic snipa's. Does the wooden ones require lot of care?
