Oxalic will generally remove dark stains (such as iron induced ones) and bring the timber back to the natural colour. Give it a little time and several coatings. PAR suggest saving that mahogany, if possible do so. It is no longer possible to buy such material (at least here in UK) as it is party to the CITES treaty. It will allow you to reuse it either for new build or repair. I store away any old bits of such material whether part rotten boat, window frames etc for repairing older sound craft.

BTW treating with oxalic acid (found in rhubarb leaves btw) will not damage the properties of the timber and as long as dry it will glue and finish like normal. It will not always work depending on the nature and age of the 'stain' but worth a good try.
