Yeap, its the way I do it. And I still have my nine fingers
And you can't see the white socks
The Malahide Trawler, that was great shipbuilding.

Could I ask you to don't highjack to much the thread, and if you can posting something referring to boat in general as this forum and thread is intended to do.
You have a lot of humor, and I appreciate, but you have a general discussion for that.
And to help you I will be the first one,I think, to give you a positive.
After all Maine people have to help each other, so help me

Thank you

After all the stanchion are put under each beam to the top of the keel, now my attention is toward the deck again. This time sanding it and ready to have the coat of pine tar linseed oil.
Here I am under a beautiful sunchine and 81F. I was sweating like a you know what
The ceiling will be next, with the harpin.

Looks like you're getting a suntan, too.

This is the sort of boatbuilding that appeals to me. I have all the respect in the world for people who can turn out nice boats in FRP, steel or aluminum, or build strip canoes and cold-molded hulls. But my heart is in shaping pieces of solid wood and putting them together.

Good thing Daniel is in Maine. If he did that in Florida he would be already scarlet.

This the view of the hull with a temporary clamp. this clamp is necessary to trace the harpin.
The little "coming up" of the sheer at the counterstern is my signature sheer line.
I am not by far the only one who do it, but I say that because I love it and I try to do it on all my design.
The tarp is to protect the linseed oil pine tar soaked deck. the sun is to hot, so some precautions are necessary. It take four to five day for the mixture to dry, and then two weeks to be well solid.
The other coat will come latter on.

Daniel, you are a real hero for working in that heat. The boat is looking great. It's a pleasure to see it take shape.

Thank you for the compliment Alan.
As you know the summer are short in Maine, I have to take advantage of this special sunny weather to the fullest.
I plan to be done before the snow. (Whishfull thinking, or crazy thinking )
I hope you have a beach near by you live, it is a great time to swim in the ocean or in a lake.

The harpin been done, it is time to take off the temporary clamp.
Until now the weather was on my side, so I can't complain.

Another step along the way. It's a pleasure to watch it coming together.

Thank you, I appreciate your interrest.
This is two picture showing the harpin done.
Is purpose is to support the upper end of the planking and ceiling.
On top will be the covering board and rail. So the harpin as a structural member as well as a connector.
You can also see the opening in the couterstern for the outboard, which can be raised when not in use
