For the bolts at the base of the counterstern I used the neoprene injected with the caulking gun in the bolts holes.
In short, depending the situation I use different methods.
I use in this boat two sizes of bolts: 1/2" and 3/8"
The screws are mostly #8 by 2-1/2".
All fastening is hot dip galvanized.

Thanks for the detailed answer.

I went looking for linseed oil based primers, and learned that California Paints still makes them. I had never heard of the company, so I did a google search and found out they're in Andover, Massachusetts. No wonder I've never seen their paint in California....

Nice to see the deck planking started, too.

I've never met your wife, but I'm in love with her now anyway....

My wife is over at our other house. So after my son and I finished a hot day on our canoe, I had to come inside to get my own beer, and dig out a frozen pizza for dinner.

Hä, hähh,

thats what I like. Freehand, some glimpse frome time to time (not too often) that it might be on course (who cares about a ° more or less), and being focussed on the result. Not the fancy ****.
No, it has ALL to fit in the end....
not every moment.

No worries, the right faith in the own skills and experience, that is what makes our Dynosaurs so valuable.

Had a survey on a old Malahide Trawler today, will take some pictures tomorrow. All Iroko on Iroko, 40 years old, nothing to argue.

Skilled shipwrights have done that boat, no worries, not too much measuring. A good eye and a safe hand.

And the pride of their heritage...

Of course, symmetric is different, but who cares?

Does the last centimeter of fairness save our asses when we are out there?
Or is the last knowledge of the craftsman the point we can rely on?

Thank you Daniel, for sharing with us, you ARE one of those Dynosaurs.

Regards
Richard
