| By the way, this is the drawing of Loudoun the houseboat. The original Loudoun was the name of Mr Lewis Nixon' houseboat which he designed for his own use in 1899. Mr. Nixon was a naval architect involve in battleship design, like the Maine. The original Loudoun was a splendor. A steam houseboat with triple expension engine (Richard will know what its mean better than me) and a speed of 12 knots. She was 110' in length, with all the luxury of the end of the nineteen century. The decription of the crew is interresting: A Master, a Chief engineer, two Fire man, two sailor, and two steward. Mr Nixon knew what comfort was Any way, this is what will look the houseboat in construction with 23' on deck, 8'6" beam a draft of 1'3" and an outboard engine of 9.9 hp. The engine is hiden in the counter stern. The displacement will be 3800Lbs. ![]() ![]() |
