Boat Pics Hi there I'm doing up a timber boat and I would like to look at photos of wooden boats in the gallery. I want to get some ideas along the lines of how much wood grain to how much painting. If any of you guys have posted pics of your boat that you think you have got a good balance can you lead me to them. Thanks Poida

mine hasn't got its make up on yet and when it finnally does it'll probably have too much for the natural timber look that is.

If you are determined to have clear finish on part of your boat I would suggest limiting it to the guards (rub rails), the bulwark rail cap if it has bulwarks and the cabin sides and cockpit coaming. Use oil on the handrails. Years of experience will teach you that paint is wonderful and oiling is easier than varnishing. But you have to admit that a perfect varnishing job is impressive to look at even if it is not so fun to do.
