Framing

I have removed the engine well to repair the transom. No problem to send pictures of the process that show the construction and dimensions. Just email me at tonycove at rogers dot com (no spaces). If you are North of the border, feel free to arrange a visit. Also the motor is indeed a 58.

Tony

Flat Broke,
I'd like to see your progress, maybe you could post on the thread? What motor are you going to put on when your done? That V4 is a good motor but at 300 lbs, sounds awfully heavy for the Palomino. Good luck with your restoration, I'll be watching for your photos.

Palomino Interior

I may have a similar dilema. I've just purchased a 1958 Palomino 15 - mahogany finish that the bottom and interior are already out of. I've done some web searchs for information and I did find a picture of the rear interior that differs from yours. I've compared that picture to some of the parts and pieces that I got with my boat and I notice that you are missing some transom items that I believe may be critical to the strength of the transom - depending on how much hp you're planning to place on the boat.

I have 3 shoes (for lack of a better word) that are mounted to the transom and then to a plank on each side which is afixed to the top of the last 3 bottom frames. I don't see those on your boat.

My plan is to assemble sub-sections on the shop floor of the various interior components before I even start replacing frames, battens, etc. I'm still sorting through all the stuff I got with the boat.

I'm sorry you feel that the Century Boat Club has not been of help. Have you tried logging onto the registry and contacting any one in your area that may have a Palomino you would be able to visually inspect and take pictures to help guide you?

I am the current Treasurer of the club and have a stable full of Century boats - but this is my first experience with a Palomino. If you would like to discuss things off this sight, send me an e-mail at soulwork@charter.net and maybe we can hook up and help each other out.
