A liquid laundry soap jug has just such a tap... I have a couple that I use. You have to rinse them a lot... a couple of times with just boiled water but then they are very useful. You're recycling too.

Actually we use 5 GALLON water bottles at home and on the boat. The sort you see mounted inverted on water coolers.
They are placed suspended in a single gimbal basket. Meaning free to swing in only one direction.
The gimbals or pivot pins, are about 2/3 the bottle height up from the bottom.
Unscrew the cap and pull-tilt the bottle towards you. It's just as quick and easy to fill a small cup as a large pot.
Should work for ANY size water bottle you can lift into the basket.

5 gallons water weighs 40 lbs. smaller bottles less.
This bottle basket need not be built bullet proof and strong as a car jack. :D

    Petros,

it's something like that I'm looking for, except that my water bottle will be inverted 180°, not just horizontal.
I have a fair amount of 5 liter plastic bottles with de-mineralised water. This water stays clear of algea and I believe Gerry Spiess used this water on Yankee Girl.
The disadvantage obviously is that you dont have the minerals usually found in natural water....
I have no clue if the thread on those water bottles is kinda standard (very tap will fit).
A link to a supplier would be highly appreciated !

I like the build and the approach of the builder I prefer to build a small boat "on the knee"
no need for much of the preperational work that is often more work than building the boat.

Do what's best for you of course, but I still like tip and pour. Nothing complicated, nothing to break or leak. (drip, drip, drip) :D

You could build this rectangular bottle basket in a cabinet. Bolts for pivots in cabinet sides. stuff a pair of shoes underneath to chock it off from free swinging. :)

I have this thought, but I'm not sure that the manufacture of these items would meet health and sanitation requirements. Herbicide and pesticide sprayers have a built in pressurization system so that a few pumps of the handle and you've got a simple pressure water system. It would be nice if these were made to potable water standards, but a very large question mark presents itself with regard to my idea.

Please no previously used containers!:eek::eek:

I very much like the idea but....I have way too little space for this system.
Perhaps one day on a bigger boat...

    Another very usable idea !!
I like to keep things as simple as possible though. Screwing the sandard cap off of a bottle and replace it by the cap with tap is as complicated I want to go...LOL.
    Thanks

Thanks for the thumbs up !
"Surprise" is the keyword for this kind of building though.....
I constantly have to say to myself..."I hadn't thought of that"...."hmmm, better had done it differently".......LOL
All in all it's just a ten footer with a roof to protect the "captain" and hopefuly some room to stretch out, cook a hot meal now and than.
As long as I have fun I don't care too much about anything else.

A system I saw in SE asia in sampans. A tin full of water and a plastic tube in it. Crew sucked up a mouth full of water using the tube as a drinking straw when a thirst dictated water. :)
